Elsa Muñiz Hermo

PIANIST, TEACHER AND COMPOSER

She has been showing interest in music since she was a child and when she was six she started attending piano lessons. She has built her musical career in Galicia (Spain) and abroad in different Music Schools and Universities. In Galicia, she studied the Elementary and Professional Grade in Piano for 10 years. Later, she completed Higher Studies in Piano in the Higher Conservatory of Vigo and in the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw. In the latter, she extended her pianistic career with Postgraduate Studies.

The enjoyment of teaching and pedagogy started in her childhood as well. This is why she decided to combine her musical studies and her pedagogical education in the University of Santiago de Compostela through the Degree in Primary Education Teaching, with specific training in Musical Education and English.

Musical composition has been playing a very important role in Elsa’s career for almost all her life. She composed her first song when she was 8 and she performed one of her pieces for an audience when she was only 10 years old. All these years of training in teaching and classical piano are combined with her passion for writing songs and pieces, specially instrumental pieces for piano. At the end of 2018, she published her first album, Memories, with which she created a new concept within classical music: «pianotelling,” that is, instrumental music for piano that gives life to autobiographical micro-stories. Thus, it aims to bring instrumental music of a predominantly classical genre to the general public, making it more accessible and adding a fundamental didactic and pedagogical component.
